5 Feb 2010 The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) has been launched

The South West Apprenticeship Company (SWAC) has been launched amidst the excitement of the National Apprenticeship Week.

SWAC was presented to hundreds of employers at Kingsholm, Gloucester Rugby Club, at an Apprenticeship Update event on Friday 5th February. Companies from across Gloucestershire came together to learn more about the success of Apprenticeships, and find out how SWAC could provide them a new cost effective way to take on an Apprentice.

It was also an opportunity to hear about new financial support available to employers in the area from the National Apprenticeship Service. A £2500 grant is on offer for taking on an unemployed 16 or 17 year old as an Apprentice.

Project Director David Michael said:

“The event was a great success, and now we have been officially launched we can’t wait to make a contribution to Apprenticeships across the region. I view SWAC as a very exciting project and an important opportunity to develop both employment and training in the South West.”
